Varun

Varun came to EASTBAY Works a month after becoming a permanent resident of the United States. As a new resident he did not know how to look for employment and was unable to financially contribute to his household. He enrolled in the WIA youth program and his case manager helped him to prepare for work, develop a resume and apply for jobs. After only a month of searching for a job, Varun gained full-time employment with Maple Leaf Bakery as a production worker. In addition, Varun recently moved into his own apartment and is planning to enroll at Contra Costa College to study engineering. His long-term goal is to become an aircraft or automotive engineer.
